The best feature of this device that also makes the smart thermostat the essential smart home device is Home/Away. There are two ways for this thermostat to detect the users’ home occupancy; one is by the motion censor on the device and the other is by the location of users’ phones with app installed. So for example, if there is nobody at home and it detects that your phone is in a different area out of your home, it sets the status as “Away” and operates the temperature accordingly. Further, it can share its data with other smart home devices such as Lutron, ALEXA, Google Home or others that features “Work with NEST” which makes it a lot easier for users to control all with just one easy setup with NEST Learning Thermostat.

It also not only turns on and off based on the “occupancy pattern”, it learns the outside temperature and plan the heating and cooling to meet the desired temperature at the right time. It gets smarter and smarter! It also learns how fast your house can heat or cool, and it adjust its schedules accordingly. And of course for the reason why it is called a “Smart Thermostat”, it allows users to control and monitor it from wherever they are with the app on their smartphone, tablet or computer.
